7/8/06 Attending:
First, WELCOME NEW MEMBERS! Thanks so much for attending our meeting. We are eager to get to know you, and hope you will have a good time with our club. We met at 5:30 at Gene Messer. The dealership has a new General Manager. His name is Craig, and he was quick to honor the same agreement we had with the previous GM, where any customer who buys a PT Cruiser through them will have their first year membership paid (Fiscal year beginning in January each year, dues not pro-rated.) More shirts are ordered. If you have ordered and paid for a shirt but have not received one, be sure to let us know. We want to make sure everyone is taken care of. Because of extra costs for some sizes, anything 2X and above will be a little extra for new orders. We also have a local supplier for our name badges now ( Iva, I know you'll be thrilled :) ) The extra name badges outside of the one provided with new, paid memberships will now be $6.00. We discussed the June 22nd Route 66 Cruise that is coming to town. We will be hosting several Cruiser Clubs from out of town (39 cars expected, plus our local group!) when they cruise through Amarillo for part of their Route 66 Cruise. They will be arriving on Saturday evening, the 22nd, sometime between 6 and 7, and will be staying at the Big Texan Inn. Some of us need to be waiting at the restaurant on part of our Route 66, Barnaby's Beanery on 6th Street, at least by 7:15. The owner of Barnaby's is going to try to arrange extra parking with a nearby business, so just watch for all the Cruisers! We hope you will join us for some fun and fellowship. These other clubs have really expressed an interest in meeting us! Email me and let me know if you will be joining the cruise out to the Big Texan to greet the visitors before leading them to Barnaby's, or if you will be at Barnaby's to help there. We also discussed the upcoming Cruise the Rockies adventure in August. Looks like we have a great turnout for this one. We want to take as many Caprock Cruisers as we can! All the Texas clubs are going, and will come through Amarillo as they go. This is a GREAT PT Cruiser gathering, and not to be missed. We need to start signing up and securing our accommodations as soon as possible. On Wednesday the 9th, Cruiser Clubs from all over Texas will be coming through Amarillo, and staying at the Big Texan Inn. Caprock Cruisers will join them for some fun that evening! We'll be leaving the 10th, and coming home the afternoon of the 13th. Also, the Cruisers have been invited to participate in the 2006 Tri-State Fair Parade. The parade will be held on Saturday September 16, 2006 in downtown Amarillo. This years theme is "A Salute to Tri-State Firefighters. " Les Holman can help us with this one, since he IS a fireman. Think about some neat ideas we can use to fit in with this theme. Remember, we won our category last year! Please e-mail us and let us know if you will be participating this year. The parade begins at 10, and we need to be in our spot by at least 9:00 a.m. So this means meeting between 8:15 and 8:30 to cruise toward Polk. More details to follow, closer to the date. After the meeting, we cruised to Tacos Garcia for supper. There are more upcoming local activities listed on the recently updated (and corrected!) website. I am in the process of updating our members' contact information as well, and will update it to our Yahoogroups page asap, where you can download your own copy from the "files" section. If any of your information has changed from last year, please let me know. If you have any ideas for future cruises, please don't hesitate to speak out and let us know. We can use all the ideas we can get! For those that couldn't make it to the meeting, we really missed you, and hope to see you next time. And finally, we are in need of a secretary. If you are interested, let us know. Submitted by April Redmon, President 2/25-26/06 & 3/4/06 Attending Make A Wish Car Show
News:
Make a Wish Car Show went Fabulous. To all those that helped out
it was appreciated. Thanks goes to April and John for setting this up
to get our Cruiser Club involved. The PCCC raised nearly
$60,000 for Make A Wish and the event was attended by nearly 10,000
people. SnoopCruiser drove up from Austin, and they were awarded
Best Display and People's Choice.
Saturday's first of the month PCCC Car Cruise Roundup Attending:
It started out great
but due to the weather everyone rushed back home. Not the Cruisers though.
We had to go eat as usual and stopped in to Sonic and had a great time
visiting. Weather didn't bother us. In fact we enjoyed our blessing. April
and John worked really hard on this Roundup. What a great job!!!!
Next: I'm not
sure who has or hasn't paid their dues, but in case you haven't this would
be a good time to catch up. Also our new shirts are in and if you need one
let April or John know the size you need and they can bring them Saturday.
Thanks, Cindy

Met at Donut Stop on Georgia at 8:30 a.m., left at 8:45 a.m. then lined up in the 92nd position at 16th and Tyler. Dale Redmon provided materials for a banner, John and April Redmon constructed the banner. Glenna Michael's and Cathy and Marc Eisenberg's grandchildren carried this banner in front of our group, and waved American Flags. As we passed the judges' stand, the young ladies were willing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Our cars were decorated in great patriotic fashion, and the crowd got a kick out of us! Afterward, we went to eat lunch at Barnaby's Beanery. We were pleased to receive Outstanding Entry (First Place) in the Open Category. John Redmon claimed the trophy Saturday afternoon. Submitted by April Redmon, Secretary

8/27/05 4th annual Day of Thunder Car Show/Cruise to Hummer's in evening Attending:
We had a great showing! Mike and Cindy Girty won First Place in the PT Cruiser category --WAY TO GO!!! and Mandy McClung won second place. Thanks to the Thunderbird Club for such a great time! That evening, we met at Region 16 and cruised to Hummer's afterward for fellowship. Submitted by April Redmon, Secretary. 8/14/05 Met at Texas Tourist Bureau. Cruised through picturesque Caprock Canyon Country. Attending:
Though it was misty and rainy, the cruise was a lot of fun! The countryside was peaceful and beautiful, and worth the price of gas. :) The area was lush and green, and the canyon areas majestic. Stopping at the overlook gave us all time to appreciate the beautiful scenery and a chance to appreciate the treasures our area has to offer. On the way back, we stopped to eat at Sam Hill Barbeque in Clarendon. This was a very good place to eat, and we learned that it is owned by the same people who own the Bar H Dude Ranch. This outfit offers a cowboy breakfast, and a cowboy lunch. We discussed the merits of taking advantage of this for another club cruise. We also touched on the topic of ordering new shirts, but no conclusion was reached, except an nearly unanimous opinion that we don't want the color black as a background for the UT orange. :) Those of you who couldn't make it, we really missed you, and hope you will be able to attend the next gathering. Please see the website for details. Submitted by April Redmon, Secretary.
7/28/05 Met at Region 16, drove to Umbarger for dinner at Rafter G's. Attending:

EMPHASIS was placed on the membership participating in the August 27 Day of Thunder Car Show; entry forms were passed out. Details and extra entry forms are available on our website. Election Discussions were not held, as these are done in our normal Fiscal year as stated in the bylaws. Secretary momentarily forgot this had been changed from July to January. But it's still a good idea to think if you want to run for office or not. Many of our officers have been in office since the club's inception, and might like a break. Go to the website and check out the bylaws, these contain the offices available and the responsibilities they entail. Afterward, we cruised to Hooters for supper. Coming up is : Panhandle Council of Car Clubs meeting July 26, 2005 7:00 p.m. Plaza Two building downtown, 500 S. Taylor 2nd floor meeting room I am bringing the PCCC up lately because it is an EXCELLENT way for our club to not only learn about other car events in the area, but because it is an INVALUABLE resource for people to be exposed to our club. By participating in some PCCC events, and car shows, etc, people will become more used to us being a fixture in town, and more apt to know we are open for memberships. It's fun to compete with other clubs, but more important than winning any competition is getting exposure for our club, which is the bottom line for enriching our club's reputation, membership and name. Diversified events and new people inject more interest in club attendance, too. We don't want anyone getting bored with doing the same old same old. Besides, we're the best looking group in town, aren't we? Last Saturday Cruise Saturday July 30, 2005 5:30 p.m.
Meet at Region 16 parking lot. We will be cruising to Umbarger to eat at Rafter G's!
Time for cruisers to start doing what we do best. Cruise. So we're going to go to Umbarger for our last Saturday cruise.
SECOND "NOSTALGIC POLK STREET CRUISE"
Saturday August 6, 2005
6:00 PM
Corvette Club is hosting Panhandle Car Council cruise night. Public is welcome to view cars, and participate on Polk Street. Also on this day is the John Chandler car show.
The membership attending the meeting on the 9th decided to participate in this event. Doesn't that sound like FUN? Just like the old days. Think about how many people will see us! We'll have more exact info on this after the last Tuesday PCCC meeting. We'll more than likely meet at Region 16 about 5:15 or so, but we'll confirm this.
Caprock Cruisers Membership has decided to participate in the Tri-State Fair Parade. We will be decorating our PTs in a PATRIOTIC theme. Mark your calendars! DATE: Saturday, September 17th TIME: Parade begins at 10:00 a.m. They will ask participants to line up early, probably around 8 or 8:30 am. (I know, I'm a late sleeper too. Let's make an exception for this special day, though, if we possibly can *wink wink* ) We'll receive final instructions one week before the parade, and I will let you know for sure the time and what our parade number is. We'll meet at the Wolflin Village Parking lot in front of the Donut Stop like we did last year, and depart as a group so we can all be at the same place at the same time downtown. THEME FOR CAPROCK CRUISERS: PATRIOTIC As I mentioned before, our theme is PATRIOTISM. We will deck out our cruisers with the good old red white and blue. Sources for bunting, flags, etc. mentioned at the meeting are:
Rear deck displays are optional, but it would be nice if a couple of us or so did one. Remember, last year we won 2nd place for Outstanding Entry in the open category. Let's shoot for first this year! We need as many Cruisers participating as possible. Please give us a shout if you plan to participate, so we'll have a rough idea on how many we can count on. So far, these people plan to participate:

6/4/05 Panhandle Council of Car Clubs Cruise Night - - Road Rally Attending:
Caprock Cruisers decided to move up their first meeting night in order to attend the P.C.C.C. Cruise night, which featured a neat road rally! Everyone partnered up and followed a list of directions and answered the clues along the way, and ended up downtown at the Acapulco Restaurant, located on Polk Street in the old Levine's Department Store building. That was fun and different! Our club is now a member of the P.C.C.C. and we are looking forward to interacting with these fine folk, who made us feel very welcome. Their Cruise Night is always the first Saturday of every month at Region 16 parking lot starting at 5:00 p.m., for any who wish to go. Their regular meeting nights are held the last Tuesday night of every month at the ANB Plaza Two in downtown Amarillo. Any of us who wish to come are welcome, but we at least need one or two representatives attending so we know what's going on. It's going to be beneficial to us to be a member for many reasons. The main one being we will get the word out about Caprock Cruisers. We will be in the know about automotive events, too. We are welcome to participate in the 2nd Annual Show and Shine to benefit Meals on Wheels 6-11-05, 7801 I-40 East (next to the Big Texan). Pre-registration starts at 8am, awards at 3pm. Entry $30 PER CAR ($35 day of show) includes t-shirt. Dash plaques and goody bags to 1st 150 entrants door prizes all day long. If we have members who decide to go, we need to all arrive at once, and we will have our parking together. It has been suggested that we bring a table for our materials to hand out, if we wish. I would also suggest bringing an ice cold cooler with plenty of water. :) If any of you decide you'd like to do this, send a message to the loop and get with other members to coordinate. I have a few forms, but not many. There will probably be some available at the event. The Last Saturday cruise will be on June 25. We are still working out all the details. Congratulations to Mike and Cindy Girty on their door prize from Big D! :) They have volunteered to auction the custom cut, rear deck pine board with the longhorn silhouette to the highest bidder, and donate the money to the club. Submitted by April Redmon, Secretary. 5/19-22/05 TEXAS CRUISER EXPO Attending:
We left the Texas Tourist Bureau shortly after two o'clock and cruised down to Grapevine. We made good time getting there. And when we did, we were slammed with a HOT weekend in more ways than one! The morning after everyone registered, we went to the Texas Motor Speedway where everyone had a blast whirling around the track. People had their pictures made in Victory Lane, made new friends with fellow cruisers from other parts of the country, and drank A LOT of water. (Thanks for the extra, Big D) That evening, we all mixed it up at the welcome party on the hotel patio, where we learned more about the agenda, and about the charity the event hosts were contributing to. It's called Rocky Top Therapy Center. This place does amazing work with children at risk in many situations, so please visit this website and see what they are all about. The welcome party was followed by the show and glow that evening, and the next day was the big show and shine. There were so many amazing Cruisers (I mean the people and the cars) that worked very hard to present their cars, and it was worth every drop of sweat that went into it. Saturday afternoon and evening were free time for all, and many explored the Bass Pro Shop and/or the Grapevine Mills Mall, located across the street from the host hotel (DFW Hilton) or spent time in their thankfully air-conditioned rooms. Many of us later spent hours visiting. The next morning the awards breakfast provided a lot of fun and surprises. John and April Redmon were awarded second place in the Rear Deck Display with their Phantom theme. Many door prizes were handed out as well. Longhorn Cruisers kindly made special mention of April for her work on their website, and presented her with some very nice gifts, for which she is very grateful. :) Soon after, Caprock Cruisers hit the road, and cruised homeward. We stopped at a very good restaurant on the way home, The Depot, in Quanah. Both on the way down and on the way home we played tag with the Amarillo Corvette Club, who were also down in Fort Worth for a show. :) Pictures of our trip are available on the Photos page of our website. Thanks BIG D CRUISERS and COWTOWN CRUISERS for a great event! April Redmon, Secretary
5/14/05
Cruisers met at 5:00 p.m. at Gene Messer on Georgia. The last Saturday of May, the 28th, we tentatively plan to attend the Tascosa Drive-In for a special cruise with a tailgate party. We will hear from Joanne and Les Holman about this soon.
4/30/05 Plans were changed due to weather for Palo Duro Canyon. Instead, we met at Western Plaza the cruised to Canyon, where we ate at Feldman's Wrong Way Diner. Every one broke up quickly after, some going home, others dropping by Chet and Gloria's for coffee and pictures of their trip to China. Attending:

At the meeting, we discussed the upcoming cruise to the Texas Expo 05 in Grapevine. We have a good group going this year. We will line up at the Texas Tourist Bureau on East I-40 at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday the 19th and cruise out from there, stopping every hour to hour and a half to stretch our legs. All in the caravan need to make sure they have their two-way radios charged up and set to channel 2. Registration is set at the host hotel, The DFW Hilton 1800 Highway 26 East, Grapevine, TX 76051-9641. (Click Link for more info.) This is where the registration will be held too, in the lobby, beginning Thursday night. The itinerary for the Expo can be found here. For our second Saturday Cruise, we will be having a cookout at Palo Duro Canyon! Saturday, April 30, we will line up at Region 16 at 4:00 p.m. and cruise to the canyon. Make sure you bring a jacket, chairs, and maybe a blanket, just in case there's a cool breeze in the evening. Entry into the park is $3.00 per person, children under 12 free. Everyone needs to bring their own drinks. I'll call for a list of who brings what in an e-mail. After the meeting, we went to Rosa's Cafe for supper, and then to Sonic for dessert. We had a great turn out! Thanks to everyone who came, and thanks to Bob Railsback at Gene Messer Chrysler Jeep for letting us meet in their conference room. The staff was really helpful and welcoming, and eager to help us get more members into our club. We will be having our regular meeting there on the second Saturday of each month. The membership agreed that in the future, for our regular meeting we would need to move the time up a bit to 5:00 p.m., since the dealership closes at 7:00 . Stay tuned to your e-mail for more information. There is a possibility we will be meeting there at first, then cruising in formation to after meeting fun instead of lining up at Region 16. We discussed our upcoming summer season, and the things we'd like to do. Looks like we're in for some FUN. Caprock Cruisers will be featured as the cover story in this coming week's Amarillo Globe News entertainment section called GET OUT. Look for it on Friday. We have several of our PT Cruisers going to the Texas Expo '05 in Grapevine this year, Since we want to be in on the Texas Motor Speedway fun, we will need to leave on Thursday evening to get out of town and get to our hotel in time to check in. 8/14/04 Our meeting was held at Marc and Cathy Eisenberg's home. We had an extra special guest, a tiger cub that needed a little extra TLC. Isis made a fun night even more interesting! A potluck dinner with loads of great food kicked things off. Thanks to everyone for their contribution, to Marc and Cathy to opening their home, even if it did turn out that because of the unseasonably cool weather, we ended up admiring the pool instead of swimming in it.

7/10/04 Last night we cruised to the Amarillo Wildlife Refuge and took a tour of the facilities and Animals. Everyone had an awesome time, as Charlie took Captain, a Jaguar, out on a leash so we could we all pet him, and take photos. We all also got hands on experience with 4 baby cubs, that we let out in the yard to play with and feed. Charlie wanted me to tell everyone thank you and to please visit again and that he enjoyed meeting the group. Also wanted to thank all for the Donations as every bit helps.
6/29/04 Saturday's Cook Out and Cruise was awesome!!!. We were only missing 4 Cruisers and we had a couple join us as they seen us in the parking lot at Region 16. We all had a great time and want to thank Chet and Gloria for having us over.
We discussed the T-Shirts and
they will be ready Thursday for pick up.
Also we were asked about the
4th of July of use of our home for the fireworks as this year they
are doing the show at South West Park near our home. Everyone is
invited over to watch the fire works and if you want to plan
anything to eat just let us know. Those that come can get their
Shirts then.
Also talked to Charlie and we
are trying to get this set up for our photos to be taken with the
Animals. We have a meeting tomorrow to discuss other things and
ours will be on the list as well and I should have a date and time
to do this with our cruisers then. Here's the link for
everyone to see what is there and some of the Animals. Not all
will be on there as they haven't placed some of the animals on the
site yet. http://www.amarillowildliferefuge.org/ When
you get to looking around on the site, make sure you scroll down
as it will look blank but its not most will be at the bottom of

Need to Pray for
Debbie Haag and Family. Debbie will be in the Hospital at BSA
Tomorrow. She goes in at 11:00am and they will take her back at
1:00pm to find out if she has a blood clot on her Heart or if it is
a mass of something else. I will be going and will email an update.
Felicia Allred
will be going in this coming month for more surgery and then will
start her Chemo. Please keep her in your prayers.

healing. Btw in case ya'll haven't heard, Max and Pam have been
busy, They have bought a new Home in the Estacado Area. Congratulations!

her as she has been decorating and is really excited about the move.

5/08/04 Chili Cook-Off!, Elks Lodge, 12:00-4:00 p.m. Those that could make it had a great time. Leesa and Ennis worked really hard on their entries and boy, was it ever some good eating! Then Penlands and their Mudflap Chili won an impressive third place out of 30 some-odd entries, and also won coveted points to add to their chances at the Terlingua Event later this year. David Philips, Jeanette Hooper, April & John Redmon, attended...and it's rumored Don and Nancy Maxie made an appearance as well...John swears he saw them. We were able to hand out cards to some really neat people there who own Cruisers. Including the one who bought that gorgeous Inferno Red convertible. We learned how to judge food entries, and learned that if you attend this, be sure and take a folding chair and some sunscreen. It was a great time, and a lot of fun to learn something new. April 5/07/04 Girls Night Out! Gloria Smith opened her wonderful home to us where we had a great yak fest and getting to know one another better. We had a WONDERFUL meal, and later we enjoyed chocolate and movies. 4/17/04

Marc Eisenberg presented to the
club (2) new Logo's. Marc is a graphic designer and was asked to come
up with something for our club that we can use, instead of having 2
logos that we use now. Both designs were awesome and different. The
members took a vote and we now have one logo to use for everything!
Marc will get this in email to me and will present it so everyone will
be able to have a look. Thank you Marc.

Meeting Date: February 7, 2004
This month's event was held at Red Lobster for an early celebration of Valentine's day and we had a really great turn out. After dinner everyone was invited to Cathy and Marc's house for birthday cake and coffee. W had a short meeting and then just enjoyed each other's company the rest of the evening. The business meeting consisted of: Reading of financial status and accounts. Cindy and Debbie updated everyone on the work that's being done for the summer event. They have contacted various businesses and are sending out request/infor letters to potential sponsors. Let's all push for a great response as sponsorship and donations are a big part to making the summer event a true success. The availability and cost of Club Shirts will be discussed at the March meeting. Sonic Drive-In has said they will help sponsor us with the shirts, they just have to get everything "run through" the channels. February 28th (okay guys- - get ready for this one!!!) The guys will be cruising to Hooters to eat and to talk to the management concerning Hooters future sponsorship of the club. The ladies will be having a Pampered Chef party at Cindy and Mike's house. Please contact Cindy if you need directions to their home (359-8653) One final note: Please keep Felicia and Jimmy Allred in your thoughts and prayers, as Felicia recently found out she has breast cancer. Until next time, HAPPY CRUISING! Karen and Donnie Meeting
